About

I started this blog after many years of debating with myself on whether to start one or not. I love the outdoors! I am an avid hiker/backpacker, camper, kayaker and hunter. Needless to say I would spend every moment of every day in the wilderness if I could. I have four boys and one girl. I have years of experience in construction and mechanics. I seem to be a really good problem solver. I garden as well as raise chickens for meat and eggs. I couldn’t afford to feed my family organic food strictly from the store so I set out to raise as much as possible on my own.

Along the way I’ve learned some tips and tricks when it comes to survival as well as many other subjects like bushcraft, homesteading and natural remedies. I am still learning. We should all continue to learn until the day we pass from this life. I would like to learn some of your tips and tricks for survival as well as share the tips and tricks I’ve learned, with you. I am not an accomplished writer so there will probably be some grammatical errors as well as some misspellings. I apologize in advance.  I will try to keep it to a minimum, I hope.

I’m not here to argue with people about which equipment is best and what is the “perfect and only way” to do something. Yes some equipment is better than others but all equipment should be tailored to each individuals needs and be natural for them to use. As with fire starting and shelter building there are many methods and the method that works for you might not be the method that works for me. But we can all learn from each other’s experiences, well treating one another with respect.

If I can help or teach one person something, then this blog was worth it. I hope, through my own experiences, that you can learn from my mistakes and failures as well as from my successes.  Thanks for checking out my blog, and feel free to let me know what you think or if I can help in any way.
